CM Naveen Patnaik Inaugurates Akshar Bhoomi, Commemorates Odia Language Heritage

Bhubaneswar: Celebrating the vibrant cultural heritage of Odisha, Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik inaugurated the ‘Akshar Bhoomi’ on the premises of Kalamandal in Bhubaneswar, adding a touch of cultural richness to the city.

The occasion aligns with the upcoming first World Odia Language Conference scheduled for three days from February 3 at Janata Maidan in Bhubaneswar. The construction of ‘Akshar Bhoomi’ at Kalamandal serves as a unique tribute to Odisha’s art and sculpture, constructed in Khondalite stone.

Adorned with the Odia alphabet, the ‘Akshar Bhoomi’ is a visual representation of Odisha’s love for its language and cultural heritage. Chief Minister Patnaik expressed his optimism that this artistic creation will serve as an enduring source of inspiration for future generations, fostering a deep connection with the classical Odia language.

V. Kartik Pandian, Chairman of 5T, played a pivotal role in overseeing the construction of ‘Akshar Bhoomi,’ regularly visiting Kalamandal and guiding the process. The IDCO, under Pandian’s direct supervision, has undertaken the construction.

The inaugural event witnessed the presence of Culture Minister Ashwini Patra, MLA Anant Narayan Jena, MLA Sushant Rout, Mayor Sulochana Das, Principal Adviser of CMO Balakrishnan, Chief Secretary Pradeep Jena, Development Commissioner Anu Garg, Principal Secretary of I and PR Department Sanjay Singh, and Culture Secretary Sujata Rout Kartikeya, collectively adding to the grandeur of the occasion.
