CM Naveen Patnaik Honours Odisha’s Hockey Stars Amit Rohidas and Deep Grace Ekka

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik celebrated Odisha’s hockey champions, Amit Rohidas and Deep Grace Ekka, for their exceptional achievements at the Hangzhou Asian Games. Amit Rohidas received a cash award of Rs 1.5 crore for the gold medal, while Deep Grace Ekka was honored with a Rs 50 lakh cash prize for the bronze.

Both athletes played for the Indian Hockey Teams, with the men’s team clinching gold and securing a place at the Paris Olympics 2024, while the women’s team earned a bronze.

The Chief Minister expressed immense pride in these players’ accomplishments, acknowledging their dedication, hard work, and extraordinary talent that have brought honor to the state.

Amit Rohidas, a distinguished hockey player, has consistently showcased his exemplary skills on the field. He has been a vital part of the Indian Men’s Hockey Team, significantly contributing to their victories on the international stage. Amit serves as a role model for budding athletes, especially in Sundargarh, the hockey cradle of Odisha.

Deep Grace Ekka, a star in women’s hockey, has been a source of pride for young female players in the state. Her unwavering defensive excellence has played a crucial role in the success of the Indian Women’s Hockey Team at various international events.
