Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi visited Deogarh district today, inaugurating and laying the foundation stone for 15 major public welfare projects worth approximately ₹205 crore. Among the highlights of the visit was the inauguration of a newly constructed 300-bed hospital aimed at significantly improving healthcare services in the region.
Out of the total 15 projects, 11 are focused on healthcare development while four are dedicated to enhancing educational infrastructure in the district. The Chief Minister’s visit underscores the state government’s commitment to strengthening essential services and bridging developmental gaps in underserved regions like Deogarh.
In a significant announcement during the event, Chief Minister Majhi declared a financial assistance package of ₹41.17 crore for kendu leaf pluckers, binders, and seasonal workers across Odisha. The support includes ₹160 for footwear, ₹200 for cloth bags for keri collection, ₹100 for caps, and ₹700 per person for mosquito nets and blankets for binders. This welfare initiative is expected to benefit nearly 9 lakh people engaged in kendu leaf-related work across the state.
Speaking at the public meeting, Chief Minister Majhi said, “Deogarh district holds immense potential for growth. Our government is determined to unlock this potential and integrate Deogarh into the mainstream of Odisha’s development. Since taking office, we have prioritized balanced growth for all 30 districts, ensuring that even the most marginalized citizens have access to basic facilities.”
He emphasized that education, healthcare, infrastructure, agriculture, industry, investment, and employment are central pillars for Odisha’s future. “We aim to build a prosperous Odisha by 2036, contributing to the vision of a developed India by 2047,” he said.
The Chief Minister reiterated his government’s resolve to transform Deogarh into one of the leading districts in the state. “We are taking rapid steps to ensure basic services like quality education, accessible healthcare, clean drinking water, electricity, and road connectivity reach every resident,” he said.
Reflecting on the state government’s tenure so far, Chief Minister Majhi noted, “There are just nine days left for our government to complete one year. In this short time, we have not wasted a single minute. From grassroots initiatives to district-wide and state-level programs, we have launched a series of developmental and welfare measures aimed at holistic progress.”
