CM Mohan Charan Majhi Reviews Energy Department’s Summer Readiness and Solar Initiative

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi held a key review meeting at Lok Seva Bhawan today, focused on enhancing the Energy Department’s preparedness for the summer season and expanding the reach of the PM Surya Ghar Yojana (rooftop solar scheme) across Odisha. The meeting aimed to address power supply issues and promote renewable energy solutions for long-term sustainability.

In his address, the Chief Minister highlighted the recurring problem of power outages during the summer due to overloading and directed officials to prioritize the upgradation of transformers and feeders to tackle the issue effectively. He emphasized the need for a strong backup system to ensure uninterrupted power supply to citizens, especially during peak demand periods.

CM Majhi urged the Energy Department to work closely with power generation companies to ensure that the state’s power requirements are met and that steps are taken to manage the increased demand during the summer months. Additionally, he encouraged officials to reach out to the Central Government for any necessary support to address challenges in power supply.

The Chief Minister also stressed the importance of creating an effective response system to address consumer complaints during power outages and advised power distribution companies to maintain vigilance and proactive measures. Furthermore, he suggested adopting energy-saving measures in government offices, including the use of sensor-based equipment to minimize power wastage.

On the topic of the PM Surya Ghar Yojana, CM Majhi called for an awareness drive to encourage widespread participation in the rooftop solar initiative. He expressed that this initiative not only aligns with the state’s efforts to promote renewable energy but also helps in reducing reliance on traditional power sources, contributing to sustainability and energy independence.

The review meeting was attended by key officials, including Deputy Chief Minister and Energy Minister Kanak Vardhan Singh Deo, Principal Secretary Vishal Dev, and OPTCL Chairman Bhaskar Jyoti Sharma. They discussed the roadmap for strengthening Odisha’s energy infrastructure and expanding solar energy solutions for a greener future.
