CM Majhi Promises Justice for Naba Das, Family Seeks CBI Probe

Bhubaneswar: Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi has assured the family of former minister Naba Das that his murder case will be thoroughly re-examined, and strict action will be taken against the real culprit.

Naba Das’ wife, Minati Das, accompanied by their daughter, Deepali Das, and son, Bisal Das, met the Chief Minister at Lok Seva Bhawan to discuss the ongoing investigation. Expressing his condolences, Majhi called the murder a deeply distressing incident and assured them that the government would ensure justice. He emphasized that all aspects of the case would be revisited and that the guilty would not escape the law.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister urged the family to cooperate with the investigating agencies and assured them of his personal attention to the case. He also invited Minati Das to reach out to him directly if any concerns arose regarding the progress of the investigation.

After the meeting, Deepali Das addressed the media, stating that they had requested a Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) probe into her father’s murder. She expressed hope that the Chief Minister would consider their plea and initiate an independent and impartial inquiry.

Naba Das, who served as Odisha’s Health Minister, was shot dead on January 29, 2023, by Assistant Sub-Inspector Gopal Das in Brajrajnagar, Jharsuguda. While the case has been under the Odisha Crime Branch’s jurisdiction, the family has consistently pushed for a CBI investigation, citing concerns over the fairness of the probe.
