CM Majhi Inaugurates New Bhubaneswar Urban Police DCP Office, Enhances Infrastructure for Smarter Policing

Bhubaneswar: Marking a significant step towards strengthening urban policing infrastructure, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi today inaugurated the newly constructed office building of the Bhubaneswar Urban Police Deputy Commissioner (DCP).

Built at a cost of ₹7.80 crore, the four-storey facility spans 2,272 square meters and is equipped with modern amenities to improve service delivery and administrative efficiency. According to an official release, the building includes a cyber cell, CCTNS room, integrated control room, legal cell, passport section, as well as a conference hall and training hall. A ramp for differently-abled individuals has also been provided to ensure accessibility.

Speaking at the inauguration, Chief Minister Majhi expressed confidence that the new office will improve the quality and timeliness of services to the public. “This modern infrastructure will greatly enhance the operational efficiency of the police and ensure prompt service to citizens,” he said.

Majhi also highlighted the state’s broader efforts in upgrading policing infrastructure. He pointed out that in March last year, 14 new police stations were inaugurated across various districts at a total cost of ₹42 crore. Emphasizing impartial and effective policing, he stated, “Odisha Police functions without bias and in accordance with the law. The law-and-order situation in the state over the past year has been satisfactory and has received praise from the Central Government.”

Reaffirming his government’s commitment to empowering police personnel, the Chief Minister announced the distribution of 425 two-wheeler vehicles to investigating officers under the Commissionerate Police. He also mentioned that more four-wheelers will be provided to police stations in the near future, along with technological support to improve the quality of criminal investigations.

The event was attended by Ekamra Bhubaneswar MLA Babu Singh, Bhubaneswar Central MLA Anant Narayan Jena, Bhubaneswar North MLA Sushant Kumar Rout, Mayor Sulochana Das, Chief Minister’s Advisor Prakash Mishra, DGP Y.B. Khurania, Police Commissioner Suresh Devdutt Singh, Additional Police Commissioner Narasingh Bhol, DCP Jagmohan Meena, and several other senior police officials.
