
Bhubaneswar: Odisha Chief Secretary Manoj Ahuja visited the Capital Region Urban Transport (CRUT) Head Office and the Gadakan Electric Bus Depot on Monday to review public transport operations and assess the progress of the city’s expanding electric bus network.
During the visit, Ahuja interacted with bus crew members, guides, and technical staff, gaining first-hand insights into their experiences and challenges in maintaining efficient, safe, and commuter-friendly public transport services.
At the CRUT Command and Control Centre, he examined the real-time monitoring system, data analytics, and scheduling mechanisms that play a key role in improving punctuality, operational efficiency, and passenger satisfaction.
Commending CRUT’s performance, Ahuja praised the team for its innovative use of digital technology in managing public transport and stressed the importance of expanding electric bus operations to strengthen green mobility in Bhubaneswar. He encouraged the organization to uphold high service standards and continue leading the transition toward sustainable urban transportation.
CRUT Managing Director Dr. N. Thirumala Naik briefed the Chief Secretary on current operations and outlined upcoming initiatives aimed at improving commuter experience and network efficiency.
Senior officials, including General Managers Sanjaya Biswal and Sahadeb Samadhia, were present during the visit.
Officials noted that the visit underscores the State Government’s commitment to promoting smart, efficient, and eco-friendly urban mobility solutions, reaffirming Bhubaneswar’s position as a model city for sustainable transport in India.
