
Kochi: Admiral Dinesh K Tripathi, Chief of the Naval Staff (CNS), along with Mrs. Shashi Tripathi, President of the Navy Welfare and Wellness Association (NWWA), made his maiden visit to the Southern Naval Command (SNC) in Kochi after assuming command of the Indian Navy. The visit was marked by significant engagements and interactions aimed at reviewing the progress and operations of the Southern Naval Command.
Upon arrival at INS Garuda, Admiral Tripathi was welcomed with a ceremonial Guard of Honour. He later met with Vice Admiral V Srinivas, Flag Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Southern Naval Command, and received a detailed briefing on the various operational, training, infrastructure, and administrative initiatives undertaken by the Command. As the training hub of the Indian Navy, the Command also showcased the advancements in training facilities, modernization efforts, and updates on disaster relief operations, particularly the assistance provided during the recent Wayanad landslides. The CNS acknowledged the Command’s progress and expressed his appreciation for their efforts.
During his visit, Admiral Tripathi inaugurated the newly renovated Command Stadium at Naval Base, Kochi. This modern sports facility features an international standard eight-lane synthetic track, a central football field, and other athletic amenities. The CNS also interacted with the Navy’s football and volleyball teams, congratulating them on their victories in inter-services competitions this year.
In another key event, Admiral Tripathi inaugurated the new Yard Utility Complex at the Naval Ship Repair Yard in Kochi. The facility is designed to provide maintenance and servicing for a wide range of mobile assets and specialist utility vehicles used at the yard.
The CNS will further address officers, sailors, trainees, and defense civilians of SNC, sharing his vision for the future of the Indian Navy. He is also set to visit his alma mater, the Signal School, where he specialized in Communication and Electronic Warfare.
