Centre Launches New Digital Health Platforms to Strengthen India’s Healthcare Ecosystem

New Delhi: Marking a major advancement in India’s digital healthcare journey, Union Health and Family Welfare Minister Jagat Prakash Nadda on Monday unveiled a set of new digital health platforms aimed at creating a connected, technology-driven and patient-centric healthcare ecosystem across the country.

The newly launched initiatives are intended to strengthen India’s Digital Public Infrastructure for Health by improving access to services, enabling seamless exchange of health records and enhancing coordination among healthcare providers.

The digital suite includes Aarogya Setu 2.0, Ayushman App, Ayushman Sarathi WhatsApp Chatbot, National Health Claims Exchange (NHCX), Insurance Plan FHIR Object Creator, e-Sushrut Clinic, Unified Health Interface (UHI), Drug Registry, Common LOINC Codes for India (CLCI) and Bharat Health Terminology Service (BHTS). These platforms have been developed under the National Health Authority (NHA) and National Resource Centre for EHR Standards (NRCeS).

Speaking at the launch event, Nadda said India is steadily moving towards a future where healthcare services are more integrated, accessible and responsive to citizens’ needs. He noted that digital innovation is playing an increasingly important role in connecting different layers of healthcare delivery and improving patient experience.

Highlighting the achievements of the Ayushman Bharat Digital Mission (ABDM), the minister said more than 90 crore ABHA accounts have already been created and over 100 crore digital health records linked, establishing one of the largest digital health networks globally.

He also highlighted the growing use of Artificial Intelligence in public healthcare and referred to initiatives such as SAHI and BODHI that are supporting improved decision-making and service delivery.

According to the minister, the upgraded digital platforms will simplify access to health services for citizens across age groups while reducing fragmentation in healthcare delivery and promoting continuity of care.

Calling upon states and Union Territories to accelerate implementation, Nadda said collaboration between the Centre and states would be crucial to fully realise the benefits of digital health reforms and advance the vision of Viksit Bharat@2047.

Union Minister of State for Health and AYUSH Prataprao Jadhav said the initiative would help bridge modern healthcare systems with traditional wellness practices and expand access to quality healthcare through digital channels.

Minister of State for Health Anupriya Patel underlined the importance of technology in improving healthcare outcomes, particularly for women and frontline workers, while senior officials said the initiatives would help build a more efficient, inclusive and future-ready public health system.
