
New Delhi: Chief of Defence Staff (CDS) General Anil Chauhan virtually inaugurated the National Conference on Technology Management (TECHMA 2024) on October 24, 2024. The two-day event, themed ‘Technology Management in Defence Sector for Vision India @2047’, has been organized by the Defence Research & Development Organisation (DRDO) at the Institute of Technology Management, Mussoorie. The conference focuses on aligning India’s defence technologies with the national objective of becoming self-reliant by 2047.
In his inaugural address, General Chauhan emphasized the importance of fostering synergy between the defence industry, R&D organizations, and the armed services to achieve Aatmanirbharta (self-reliance) in defence. He called for innovative and unique technological ideas that can give India’s armed forces a competitive advantage. Highlighting the need to adapt to changing times, he reiterated the goal of transforming India into a Sashakt, Surakshit & Viksit Bharat (Strong, Secure, and Developed India).
The conference commenced with a roundtable discussion on ‘Harnessing Futuristic Technologies and Strengthening Indigenous Capabilities for Vision India @ 2047’. Dr. Samir V. Kamat, Secretary of the Department of Defence R&D and Chairman of DRDO, attended as the Guest of Honor. Other key themes of TECHMA 2024 include futuristic defence technologies, strategic vision for 2047, excellence in project management, and value engineering in defence.
The insights gained from TECHMA 2024 are expected to bolster India’s indigenous R&D ecosystem, improve project management processes, and develop cutting-edge defence solutions. The event is poised to identify key multidisciplinary research areas, address technological challenges, and enhance India’s global leadership in defence technologies by 2047.
