BPR&D Launches Comprehensive Training Programs on New Criminal Laws for Police Personnel Nationwide

New Delhi:  In a significant development, the Bureau of Police Research & Development (BPR&D) has taken a major step towards enhancing the capabilities of law enforcement across the nation. The BPR&D has successfully developed a comprehensive Training of Trainers module and various training programs targeting different levels of police personnel, focusing on the implementation of the new criminal laws.

The training programs have recently commenced at the national level, with the BPR&D actively collaborating with the ‘Integrated Government Online Training’ (iGOT) portal. This integration aims to make the training courses readily accessible to police personnel across the country, ensuring a standardized and up-to-date understanding of the new criminal laws.

Notably, the BPR&D has extended its reach by sharing these training modules with all States and Union Territories. This initiative encourages the respective Police Training Institutes to conduct similar training programs tailored to their specific needs, ensuring a widespread dissemination of knowledge and expertise.

To facilitate awareness and knowledge-sharing, the BPR&D has uploaded Informative Flyers on the new criminal laws on its official website (https://bprd.nic.in/). These materials are designed to contribute to the capacity building of not only police personnel but also other stakeholders involved in the criminal justice system.

In a written reply to a question in the Lok Sabha, the Minister of State for Home Affairs, Shri Nityanand Rai, emphasized the commitment to continuous improvement. He highlighted that the allocation of funds and resources for training police personnel, including the specialized training on new criminal laws, is an ongoing process seamlessly integrated into the annual budget.

This initiative signifies a proactive approach by the BPR&D and the government to empower law enforcement agencies with the necessary knowledge and skills to effectively navigate and enforce the evolving legal landscape. As the training programs progress, it is expected that they will contribute significantly to the enhancement of the overall efficiency and effectiveness of the police force in addressing contemporary challenges in law enforcement.
