Bodhipath Film Festival to Celebrate Buddhist Teachings Through Cinema in New Delhi

New Delhi: The International Buddhist Confederation (IBC), in collaboration with The Foundation for Universal Responsibility of His Holiness the Dalai Lama, is set to host ‘The Bodhipath Film Festival’ on March 10-11, 2025, at the India International Centre, New Delhi. The festival aims to bring together Buddhist philosophy and cinematic storytelling, offering a platform for global audiences to engage with films that reflect the teachings and values of Buddhism.

Over two days, the festival will showcase ten meticulously curated films from across the world, exploring themes of mindfulness, compassion, impermanence, and the complexities of human consciousness. These films will provide visual narratives that illuminate the richness of Buddhist traditions while addressing contemporary spiritual and philosophical inquiries.

Beyond film screenings, the event will feature four panel discussions with eminent scholars, filmmakers, and practitioners. The discussions will explore the role of Buddhist cinema in India, the challenges and opportunities in spiritual filmmaking, the intersection of art and Buddha Dhamma, and the importance of mindful communication in the digital age.

The Bodhipath Film Festival seeks to highlight the intricate connection between Buddhist philosophy and the art of filmmaking. Much like the meticulous journey toward spiritual awakening in Buddha Dhamma, filmmaking is a process of careful observation, artistic precision, and deep introspection. Every frame and interaction in a Buddhist film becomes a meditative act, shaping both the storyteller and the viewer’s perspective on life and existence.

Buddhist cinema serves not just as a visual representation of teachings, but as an immersive spiritual journey that allows audiences to contemplate and internalize the wisdom of the Buddha. Through this cinematic experience, viewers can explore the self, witness the Buddha’s path, and embrace storytelling as a form of meditation and ritual practice.

As societies across Asia and beyond navigate modern challenges, The Bodhipath Film Festival aims to foster a deeper understanding of Buddhist teachings as a guiding force in times of uncertainty. By weaving cinema, philosophy, and cultural traditions, the festival aspires to bridge the gap between generations and preserve the essence of Buddhist wisdom in an ever-evolving world.
