Bhubaneswar: The Bhubaneswar Municipal Corporation (BMC) has sounded an alert following the detection of bird flu in nearby regions. The civic body has advised chicken vendors to temporarily halt the procurement of poultry from affected areas and urged residents to remain cautious.
In its advisory, the BMC called for increased vigilance, requesting citizens to report any abnormal bird deaths or illnesses to local veterinary centers. The corporation has emphasized that taking swift action could prevent the virus from spreading further within the city.
To curb the outbreak, the BMC instructed residents to dispose of dead birds by burying them in designated spots, using protective gear such as gloves and masks to ensure safe handling. The civic authorities also requested the public to cooperate with BMC teams during inspections and share accurate information to facilitate containment efforts.
BMC Mayor Sulochana Das further appealed to citizens to follow safety precautions and consider avoiding chicken consumption as a preventive measure until the situation stabilizes. The Mayor underscored that public cooperation is essential in safeguarding the health of the city amid the bird flu threat.
