
Bhubaneswar: The much-anticipated Bhubaneswar Metro Rail project is on track for completion by December 2027, Housing & Urban Development (H&UD) Minister Krushna Chandra Mahapatra announced on Tuesday in the Odisha Assembly.
In response to a question posed by Congress MLA Sofia Firdous from Barabati-Cuttack, Minister Mahapatra provided a detailed update on the progress of the metro rail project. He revealed that construction has begun on the first phase, which will connect Trisulia in Cuttack district to Bhubaneswar International Airport (BPIA), covering a distance of 26 kilometers.
Mahapatra emphasized the significance of the project for the region’s urban development and transportation infrastructure. “The Bhubaneswar Metro Rail project is targeted for completion by December 2027,” he stated, underscoring the government’s commitment to enhancing urban connectivity and reducing traffic congestion.
