Bhubaneswar metro project work likely to commence by 2023 end

Bhubaneswar: The construction work of the much-awaited Metro train project in Bhubaneswar will begin by the end of 2023, informed Odisha Housing & Urban Development Minister Usha Devi on Friday.

The Metro Rail System for Bhubaneswar Capital Regional has been sanctioned
by Chief Minister Naveen Patnaik.

The Delhi Metro Rail Corporation has been engaged as the consultant and the DPR is under preparation.

Chief Minister is likely to lay foundation stone for the project in the month of June, informed Principal Secretary, H&UDD, G. Mathivathanan during a media briefing.

The survey work for the proposed project has been completed. The routes for running the Metro train have also been identified. Initially, the Metro train will run between Bhubaneswar and Cuttack. Subsequently, it will be extended to Jatni and Puri, he said.
