Bhitarkanika National Park to remain closed for three months from May 1

Bhubaneswar: The Bhitarkanika National Park in Kendrapara district will remain closed from May 1 to July 31. The decision has been taken in view of the mating and nesting season of saltwater crocodiles.

For the next three months, tourists will not be allowed to visit the national park during the breeding season of the crocodiles.

Every year during the breeding season such restrictions are imposed at Bhitarkanika, Dangamala and Ragadapati forest blocks.

Local forest dwellers have also been prohibited from entering the area for the collection of honey and wood.
