Bharat Telecom 2025 Opens with Vision to Make India a Global Digital Powerhouse

New Delhi: Declaring India’s intent to shape the future of global connectivity through innovation and collaboration, Union Minister of Communications and Development of North Eastern Region, Jyotiraditya M. Scindia, today inaugurated Bharat Telecom 2025 in the national capital. The two-day international event marks a major step forward in India’s ambition to become a global hub for telecom manufacturing, services, and exports.

“Bharat Telecom is not just a conference—it is a declaration, a symphony of global collaboration and opportunity,” said Scindia in his inaugural address. He emphasized the transformative progress India has made in the telecom sector, backed by the bold vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The conference, organized by the Telecom Equipment and Services Export Promotion Council (TEPC) in partnership with the Department of Telecommunications (DoT), features an International Business Expo and extensive participation from global and domestic industry leaders.

Highlighting India’s unprecedented telecom growth, Scindia said, “In just 22 months, we connected 99% of our villages with 5G, deployed over 470,000 telecom towers, and brought 82% of our population online. This is not evolution—it is a telecom revolution.”

He described this massive digital infrastructure as “the infrastructure of infrastructure,” empowering 1.4 billion Indians with access to education, healthcare, governance, and economic opportunities. India, he said, has moved from being a digital follower to a global digital leader, transforming “aspiration into infrastructure, and policy into progress.”

Minister of State for Communications, Dr. Pemmasani Chandra Sekhar, echoed this sentiment, stating that India now plays the role of a creator and trusted provider of telecom solutions. “The narrative has changed from made-for-India to made-by-India,” he noted, pointing to the success of initiatives like Digital India, PLI schemes, and Telecom Technology Development Fund.

Dr. Sekhar also emphasized India’s growing role in global supply chains, citing the fact that 15% of the world’s iPhones are now made in India. Looking ahead, he outlined India’s ambitions in 6G development, satellite broadband, and quantum communication networks, which will further strengthen the country’s digital sovereignty.

Arnob Roy, Chairman of TEPC, welcomed delegates and highlighted how Bharat Telecom 2025 showcases the innovation and manufacturing strength of India’s indigenous telecom ecosystem. He credited supportive government policies for driving growth and invited global delegates to explore cutting-edge solutions on display at the exhibition.

Over 80 leading Indian Telecom and ICT companies are participating, presenting next-generation products across 5G, Optical Fibre, AI-driven Networks, IoT, Satellite Communications, and more. The event has drawn over 130 international delegates from 35+ countries, including government officials and business leaders.
