Puri: The Shree Jagannath Temple Administration (SJTA) has decided to set up a baby feeding room inside the temple premises, creating a private and hygienic space for breastfeeding mothers. The facility is aimed at addressing the needs of women devotees who visit the shrine with infants.
According to SJTA, the feeding room will be located near the administrative office of the temple administration branch. It will be equipped with necessary amenities to ensure cleanliness, comfort, and privacy. A female assistant will be deployed to manage the facility and assist mothers.
Chief Administrator Dr. Arabinda Kumar Padhee has instructed officials to prioritize the project. In a meeting with senior functionaries, including SP Pinak Mishra, Policy Administrator Jitendra Sahu, Senior Supervisor Baksi Pratihari, and Assistant Administrator Shubhashree Suchismita, a suitable location was identified for the room.
The decision comes after repeated appeals from devotees, particularly women, who highlighted the absence of a designated space for nursing. With this initiative, SJTA hopes to enhance the temple experience for mothers and ensure their comfort during visits.
