New Delhi: In a landmark move to bolster consumer protection and regulatory vigilance in the traditional medicine sector, Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Ayush and Minister of State for Health & Family Welfare, Prataprao Jadhav, today launched the AyushSuraksha Portal at Ayush Bhawan, New Delhi. The launch, held during a press briefing, marks a significant step by the Ministry of Ayush to promote transparency, accountability, and safety across the Ayush ecosystem.
Speaking at the event, Jadhav highlighted the portal’s role in empowering citizens and professionals to become active participants in safeguarding the credibility of Ayush systems. He noted that the platform would serve as a vigilant watchtower to prevent misleading advertisements and ensure that only safe and credible traditional medicine products reach the public.
Secretary of the Ministry of Ayush, Vaidya Rajesh Kotecha, described the portal as a major leap forward in pharmacovigilance and regulatory convergence. He explained that the AyushSuraksha Portal integrates data from State Licensing Authorities, national pharmacovigilance centres, and key regulatory stakeholders to facilitate real-time monitoring, systematic analysis, and coordinated action against misleading advertisements and adverse drug reactions. He added that the portal is accessible to the public, allowing any citizen to report misleading claims or adverse reactions through a streamlined digital process.
The portal was developed in response to the Supreme Court’s order dated July 30, 2024, in Writ Petition (Civil) No. 645/2022, which emphasized the need for a centralized dashboard for monitoring and publishing data related to misleading advertisements and adverse drug reactions. The Ministry of Ayush has successfully launched the system ahead of the court-mandated deadline of June 2025.
Developed with the technical support of the Central Council for Research in Siddha (CCRS) and aligned with the National Pharmacovigilance Program, the AyushSuraksha Portal enables consumers, healthcare professionals, and authorities to report incidents and monitor developments in a transparent and coordinated manner. It brings together various regulatory bodies, creating a unified digital ecosystem for regulatory enforcement and public participation. A pre-launch training session for nodal officers from these organizations was held on April 9, 2025, under the chairmanship of Dr. Kousthubha Upadhyaya, Adviser (Ayu.), Ministry of Ayush.
The launch of the portal provides the Ministry of Ayush with a centralized and real-time dashboard for reported cases, allowing for swift regulatory action and data-driven policy formulation. It also ensures that the public has a direct channel to voice concerns and access updates on the action taken, thereby enhancing the transparency and responsiveness of the system.
