Australia women defeat India in second T20

Mumbai: Indian women team lost the second T20 match against Australia played at Dr Dy Patil Sports Academy, Navi Mumbai, today. Asked to bat first, India were restricted to 130 for 8 in the stipulated overs as several batters got starts but couldn’t convert them to big scores. For the bowling side, Kim Garth, Sutherland and Wareham took 2 wickets each, while Dipti Sharma for the hosts toped with a 27 ball 30 run.

Chasing the paltry score, Australia obtained victory in the 19th over with the loss of 4 wickets. Both the openers were dismissed in 20s by Dipti Sharma who finished a match figure of 22/2. Ellyse Perry (34 off 21) hit the winning six while Phoebe Litchfield (18 off16) remained not out to see their team cross the target with an over to spare. Kim Garth was declared player of the match.

India had defeated the visitors in the first match of the 3-match series. The series decider will be played on Tuesday.
