Assam Government to convert 300 publics buses into electric and CNG buses

Guwahati: In order to control air pollution level and impact on the environment, the Assam government has decided to convert 300 public buses into electric and CNG buses.

Chief minister Himanta Biswa Sarma announced on February 1 that the conversion of the buses will be done by Guwahati Smart City Limited.

“The running of city buses on diesel has an adverse pollution impact. We want to ensure that Assam positively contributes towards the world’s fight against global warming,” said CM Sarma

Within the next six months, 200 public buses will be powered by electricity while another 100 buses will be converted to Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fuel.
