CJP ends Jantar Mantar stir after Centre concedes demands

New Delhi: Days of protests at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar over the alleged examination paper leak controversy came to an end on Saturday after the Centre accepted all key demands of the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP), including the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

The breakthrough followed a meeting between Union Health Minister J.P. Nadda and CJP representatives, after which both sides announced that the agitation would be withdrawn.

Addressing a joint press conference, Nadda said the government had agreed to withdraw all police cases filed against protesting students and would issue written confirmation regarding the withdrawal of FIRs. He also assured that the families of students who died in incidents linked to the controversy would receive the highest possible compensation.

Pradhan’s resignation earlier in the day fulfilled another major demand raised by the protesters, who had been seeking accountability over the alleged paper leak and the government’s handling of the issue.

CJP leader Saurav Das urged students to end the protest, stating that all demands had been accepted by the Centre. He appealed to demonstrators to return home peacefully and allow the government to implement its assurances.

The protest had focused on alleged examination irregularities, withdrawal of criminal cases against students, compensation for affected families and ministerial accountability. The issue had triggered widespread demonstrations, with students and opposition groups demanding stricter action against those responsible.

With the Centre agreeing to the demands, both the government and CJP expressed hope that the matter had been resolved through dialogue, paving the way for a peaceful conclusion to the agitation.
