
Pune: In a grand ceremony held at Capt Devashish Sharma, Kirti Chakra Parade Ground, Armed Forces Medical College (AFMC), Pune, one hundred and twelve medical graduates of the 58th batch were commissioned into the Indian Armed Forces on April 25, 2024.
The ceremony, marked by pomp and tradition, saw Director General Armed Forces Medical Services (DGAFMS) & Senior Colonel Commandant, Army Medical Corps Lt Gen Daljit Singh serving as the chief guest. He reviewed the Commissioning parade, which was led by medical cadet (now Lieutenant) Sushil Kumar Singh.
Congratulating the newly commissioned officers, DGAFMS urged them to serve the country and the armed forces with dedication, wishing them a bright future.
The cadets of the 58th batch performed exceptionally well in the MUHS winter 2023 examinations, with a total of one hundred and forty-seven cadets graduating, including five from friendly foreign countries. Among the one hundred and twelve cadets commissioned into the Armed Forces Medical Services, eighty-seven are Gentlemen Cadets and twenty-five are Lady Cadets. Eighty-eight were commissioned into the Army, ten into the Navy, and fourteen into the Air Force.
Following the commissioning ceremony, an Academic awards presentation ceremony recognized the exemplary academic achievements of the cadets. Notably, Flying Officer Ayush Jaiswal was awarded the prestigious ‘President’s Gold Medal,’ while Surgeon Sub Lieutenant Bani Kaur received the esteemed ‘Kalinga Trophy.’
