Bhubaneswar: The annual bird census at Chilika Lake commenced today and is set to continue until January 15. To facilitate the census, boating activities for visitors have been temporarily suspended. Approximately 20 teams have been mobilized to conduct a comprehensive count of both migratory and resident birds throughout the Chilika lagoon.
In a technological stride, the Forest Department has embraced the ‘e-Bird’ mobile application for the census. This app allows for the real-time input of counting data, providing accessible information to a global audience.
Chilika Lake, known for hosting millions of migratory birds during the winter, is a haven for bird and nature enthusiasts who flock to witness the diverse avian population.
