Ten huge scrolls measuring 750 metres long depicting the tales of valor of unsung heroes of India’s freedom movement were displayed at Rajpath on the occasion of the 73rd Republic Day.
The scrolls, each of 75 metres in length and 15 ft in height, were prepared during the Kala Kumbh, an artist workshop organised by the National Gallery of Modern Art (NGMA) in collaboration with the Ministry of Culture and Ministry of Defence.
The scrolls were painted in two phases in the artists workshop held at Bhubaneswar and Chandigarh where over 600 artisans from across the country participated.
The scrolls reflect traditional forms of art as well as contemporary expressions, which showcase the essence of rich cultural and artistic heritage of India while also analyzing the absolute sacrifice and contribution of our unsung heroes.
