Mumbai: The Steel Authority of India Limited (SAIL), India’s largest public sector steel producer and a Maharatna company, has entered into a strategic partnership with John Cockerill India Limited (JCIL), a subsidiary of the global John Cockerill Group. The Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) was signed in Mumbai by Anil Kumar Tulsiani, Director (Finance) at SAIL, and Michael Kotas, Managing Director of the Metals Division at JCIL.
This collaboration aims to leverage the technological expertise and industry experience of both companies to advance innovation and sustainability in steel production.
The partnership will concentrate on critical areas, including:
- Cold Rolling and Processing for Carbon Steel
- Development of Green Steel Technologies
- Production of Silicon Steel, including Cold Rolled Grain Oriented (CRGO) and Cold Rolled Non-Oriented (CRNO) Steels
In addition to enhancing steel processing capabilities, the agreement focuses on integrating green technologies into iron and steelmaking processes. This includes exploring advanced methods to reduce carbon emissions and improve resource efficiency, aligning with global sustainability standards.
