Prime Minister Narendra Modi to Inaugurate Supreme Court’s Diamond Jubilee Celebration and Launch Digital Initiatives

New Delhi: In a significant milestone, Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi is set to inaugurate the Diamond Jubilee celebration of the Supreme Court of India on 28th January at 12 noon in the Supreme Court auditorium. The event marks the seventy-fifth year of the Supreme Court’s establishment, and the Prime Minister will unveil transformative citizen-centric information and technology initiatives as part of the celebration.

As a crucial aspect of the Diamond Jubilee celebration, the Prime Minister will launch the Digital Supreme Court Reports (Digi SCR), an initiative that aims to make Supreme Court judgments readily available to citizens in a free and electronic format. The Digital Supreme Court Reports will encompass all 519 volumes of the Supreme Court reports since 1950, covering 36,308 cases. The digital format will be user-friendly, bookmarked, and openly accessible, providing a valuable resource to the public.

Another groundbreaking initiative to be inaugurated is the Digital Courts 2.0 application, an integral part of the e-Courts project. This application seeks to make court records available to district court judges in an electronic format. Notably, it incorporates the use of artificial intelligence (AI) for real-time transcription of speech to text, further enhancing efficiency and accessibility.

In addition to these technological advancements, the Prime Minister will also launch the new bilingual website of the Supreme Court, available in both English and Hindi. The redesigned website features a user-friendly interface, offering an enhanced and seamless experience for users accessing legal information and updates.

The occasion will see Prime Minister Narendra Modi addressing the gathering and commemorating the Supreme Court’s significant contributions to the Indian judicial system over the past seventy-five years. The Diamond Jubilee celebration underscores the commitment to leveraging technology for legal accessibility and transparency.

The initiatives launched on this historic occasion align with the government’s vision to empower citizens with digital resources, making legal information more accessible and fostering a tech-driven judicial ecosystem. The Supreme Court’s Diamond Jubilee celebration marks not only a historical milestone but also a step forward in embracing the digital future of the Indian judiciary.
