Amit Shah Reviews Manipur Security, Orders Free Movement on Roads from March 8

New Delhi: Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah chaired a high-level review meeting today in New Delhi to assess the security situation in Manipur. The meeting brought together key officials, including the Governor of Manipur, Union Home Secretary, Director of the Intelligence Bureau, Deputy Chief of Army Staff, Army Commander of the Eastern Command, and Directors General of BSF, CRPF, and Assam Rifles. Senior officers from the Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA), Army, and Manipur administration were also present.

During the meeting, Amit Shah reiterated the Government of India’s commitment to restoring peace and stability in Manipur, emphasizing that Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s leadership remains focused on ensuring long-term security and development in the state.

The Home Minister ordered the removal of all restrictions on movement across Manipur’s roads from March 8, 2025, ensuring unhindered travel for the people. He directed that strict action be taken against any individual or group attempting to create obstructions or disrupt normalcy.

Amit Shah also instructed authorities to fast-track fencing along designated entry points on Manipur’s international border, reinforcing border security to curb illegal activities and infiltration.

Emphasizing the government’s zero-tolerance policy on drugs, the Home Minister directed officials to dismantle the entire drug trade network operating in Manipur, reinforcing the government’s vision of a drug-free state.

The high-level meeting underscored the government’s determination to restore order in Manipur through strong security measures, improved infrastructure, and stringent law enforcement. Amit Shah assured that the Centre is extending all necessary support to the state to ensure peace, security, and development for its people.
