Amit Shah Launches Bharatiya Bhasha Anubhag to Empower Indian Languages in Governance

New Delhi: Marking a significant move towards linguistic empowerment and cultural preservation, Union Home Minister and Minister of Cooperation Amit Shah today inaugurated the Bharatiya Bhasha Anubhag (Indian Languages Section) under the Department of Official Language in New Delhi. Senior officials, including the Union Home Secretary and Secretary of Official Language, were present at the launch.

Speaking at the event, Amit Shah described the initiative as a historic step in making the administration more rooted in Indian ethos. He said the creation of the Bharatiya Bhasha Anubhag signifies the transformation of the Department of Official Language into a “complete department,” dedicated to freeing Indian governance from the influence of foreign languages.

“Our true intellectual and decision-making potential can only be realized when we operate in our mother tongues,” Shah said, underlining that the initiative is aimed at nurturing a governance system aligned with India’s linguistic and cultural identity. “By strengthening local languages, we move closer to reclaiming India’s ancient glory,” he added.

Shah emphasized the interconnectedness of India’s many languages, likening them to rivers that merge into the Ganga of Indian culture. “Indian languages are not just modes of communication; they are the soul of our civilization. And our civilization is the soul of India,” he said.

The new Indian Languages Section is envisioned as a platform to support, organize, and promote the rich linguistic diversity of the nation. It aims to incorporate modern administrative practices while maintaining the cultural sensitivities, depth, and spirit of regional languages.

Highlighting the importance of integrating technology, Shah noted that digital tools should be used to elevate Indian languages without compromising their richness or authenticity. “We will win the battle against the imposition of English by empowering our languages through innovation and policy,” he declared.
