CM Majhi Assures AIIMS Delhi Transfer for Balanga Burn Victim; Vows Swift Justice

Bhubaneswar: In response to the brutal attack on a minor girl in Balanga, Puri district, Odisha Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Saturday assured that the state government is fully prepared to transfer the victim to AIIMS Delhi for advanced treatment, provided her condition permits.

The girl, who suffered severe burn injuries in a horrifying act of violence allegedly carried out by miscreants, is currently undergoing treatment at AIIMS Bhubaneswar. With 70% burn injuries, she remains in critical condition and under close observation by a team of specialists.

Chief Minister Majhi stated that the State Health Minister, the Health Department, and the Chief Minister’s Office are in continuous coordination with AIIMS Bhubaneswar authorities to ensure the best possible medical care. “If the AIIMS Bhubaneswar Director grants medical clearance, and the patient’s condition is stable for airlifting, we are ready to shift her to AIIMS Delhi without any delay,” he said.

Describing the incident as “unfortunate and deeply disturbing,” the Chief Minister reiterated his government’s zero-tolerance policy toward crimes against women. He confirmed that a special police team is actively investigating the case and that several suspects have already been detained.

“We will ensure the strictest possible punishment for those responsible,” CM Majhi asserted, adding that justice will be swift and uncompromising.

Beyond immediate medical and legal response, the Chief Minister emphasized that ensuring the safety, dignity, and rights of women remains a core priority for his administration. He linked the government’s stance to its long-term vision of a Samruddha Odisha by 2036 and 2047—where progress is rooted in justice, equality, and human dignity.

The brutal incident has triggered widespread public outrage across Odisha, with citizens demanding stringent action and systemic reforms to prevent such crimes. The government has responded with assurances of fast-track investigation and judicial proceedings, sending a strong message that such acts of violence will not go unpunished.

As the state watches the situation closely, officials have pledged every possible support to the victim and her family, reaffirming the government’s commitment to both immediate action and long-term change.
