London: Iga Swiatek delivered a tennis masterclass at the All England Club on Saturday, clinching her maiden Wimbledon title with a ruthless 6-0, 6-0 win over Amanda Anisimova in the 2025 Ladies’ Singles final. The 57-minute demolition not only gave Swiatek her sixth Grand Slam crown but also placed her in elite company, completing a career Grand Slam across all surfaces — clay, hard, and grass.
The Polish star, already a four-time French Open and one-time US Open champion, becomes the first player from Poland to win the Wimbledon singles title in the Open Era. With Saturday’s emphatic win, she also celebrated her 100th career match victory in Grand Slam tournaments, taking her record to a formidable 100–20 since making her major debut in 2019.
Swiatek’s final performance was one for the history books. It marked just the second time in the Open Era that a Grand Slam singles final ended with a 6-0, 6-0 scoreline — the only other being Steffi Graf’s iconic double-bagel victory over Natalia Zvereva in the 1988 French Open final.
In Saturday’s match, Swiatek opened with blistering precision, sealing the first set in just 27 minutes — the first 6-0 opener in a Wimbledon women’s singles final since Martina Navratilova’s 1983 win over Andrea Jaeger. While the final was a lopsided affair, Amanda Anisimova’s run to the championship match was nothing short of remarkable. The 23-year-old American stunned World No.1 Aryna Sabalenka in the semifinals — her first career win over a top-ranked player — and is now poised to break into the WTA Top 10 for the first time when the rankings are updated on Monday.
