Odisha to Implement National Education Policy in Schools by 2025

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha government has announced its commitment to implementing the National Education Policy (NEP) in schools across the state by 2025. School and Mass Education Minister Nityananda Gond shared the update during the Assembly session on Wednesday, highlighting the steps being taken to ensure a smooth transition.

According to Gond, a Task Force Committee, along with six sub-committees, has been formed to provide specific recommendations for the NEP’s implementation in Odisha’s schools. “The committees will gather inputs and suggestions from all stakeholders, ensuring that the policy reflects a comprehensive approach. After this consultative process, the NEP will be formally rolled out,” the minister said.

Addressing concerns about teacher vacancies in schools, Gond assured that the government is actively working to fill the gaps. “Efforts are underway to address all essential requirements in the education sector to improve overall quality,” he noted.

The minister emphasized the department’s dedication to education reform, ensuring that the NEP’s integration is seamless and effective. “The department is committed to meeting all necessary needs for education reform and ensuring that the NEP is successfully integrated into the school system,” Gond added.

The NEP aims to overhaul the existing education framework in India, introducing transformative changes such as experiential learning, competency-based assessments, and vocational education from early grades. With its focus on inclusivity and quality, Odisha’s proactive approach to NEP implementation is expected to set a strong precedent for other states.
