Goa: The National Film Development Corporation (NFDC) has announced its official selection for the Co-Production Market in the 18th edition of the NFDC Film Bazaar. Featuring 21 feature films and 8 web series from seven countries, this year’s event is set to run from November 20 to 24, 2024, at the Marriott Resort in Goa, in tandem with the International Film Festival of India (IFFI), which takes place from November 20 to 28.

The selected projects represent a wide range of languages, including Hindi, English, Assamese, Tamil, Marwari, Bengali, Malayalam, Punjabi, Nepali, Marathi, Pahadi, and Cantonese, showcasing the diversity of storytelling traditions in South Asia and beyond. Filmmakers from India, Bangladesh, Nepal, Australia, the UK, Germany, and Hong Kong will present their projects to an audience of industry professionals, such as producers, distributors, festival programmers, financiers, and sales agents. This year, NFDC has also partnered with the Asia TV Forum & Market (ATF), enhancing global exchange and bringing new opportunities for cross-market collaboration.

The Open Pitch session, a highlight of the Co-Production Market, offers a collaborative platform for filmmakers to engage with potential partners and industry influencers, paving the way for new co-productions and cross-border projects. In an exciting addition, NFDC has introduced eight web series across genres like drama, romance, period drama, comedy, action, coming-of-age, adventure, and thriller, reflecting the increasing demand for serialized content.

According to NFDC Managing Director Prithul Kumar, this year’s Co-Production Market attracted a record 180 feature applications from 23 countries across 30 languages. The newly introduced Web Series edition received 38 submissions from 8 countries in 14 languages. “The Co-Production Market has become an essential pillar of Film Bazaar, offering financial support and fostering collaborations that bring filmmakers’ visions to life. We wish the selected filmmakers great success in finding the ideal partners for their projects,” he stated.

The NFDC Film Bazaar remains a vibrant hub for fostering international film collaboration, creating a platform for Indian and international filmmakers to engage, learn, and grow within the global cinema landscape.
