‘IHU’, A New Variant of Covid Detected In France
As the world is grappling with rising cases of Omicron, scientists in France have identified ‘IHU’ as a new strain of the COVID-19.
The B.1.640.2 variant has been reported by researchers at institute IHU Mediterranee Infection. At least 12 cases with travel history to the African country Cameroon have been reported.
While research work is going on, however, a report suggests that IHU contains 46 mutations which is more than Omicron. It also suggests the new variant is more resistant to vaccines and thus more infectious.
Recently Israel also reported the first case of ‘Flurona’, a rare double infection of Influenza and Covid.
