Sachin Khilari Wins Silver at Paris Paralympics, Secures India’s 21st Medal

Paris: Sachin Sarjerao Khilari made India proud by winning the silver medal in the Men’s Shot Put F46 event at the Paris Paralympics 2024 on Wednesday. His remarkable performance added to India’s growing tally, marking the country’s 21st medal at the Games.

Khilari’s best attempt, a throw of 16.32 meters, set a new Asian record and secured him the silver medal. The competition was intense, with Canada’s Greg Stewart narrowly edging out Khilari with a season-best throw of 16.38 meters to take the gold. Luka Bakovic of Croatia completed the podium, winning bronze with a personal best of 16.27 meters.

This silver medal also marks India’s 11th medal in Track and Field events at the Paris Paralympics, highlighting the nation’s strong showing in athletics.

Looking ahead, Indian athletes are set to continue their quest for glory in various other events. In powerlifting, Parmjeet Kumar (men’s 49kg) and Sakina Khatun (women’s 45kg) are strong contenders, and in archery, Harvinder Singh will face off against Taiwan’s Tseng Lung-hui in the Men’s Recurve pre-quarterfinals. Additionally, in the Women’s Shot Put F64 final, Amisha Rawat achieved a personal best with a throw of 9.25 meters, showcasing her potential on the international stage.

India’s impressive performance at the Paris Paralympics continues to inspire, with hopes high for more medals in the coming days.
