Cuttack Bans DJs During Durga Puja Immersion to Curb Noise Pollution

Cuttack: In an effort to control noise pollution during the Durga Puja celebrations, the Cuttack district administration announced on Sunday a ban on the use of DJs during the idol immersion procession. The move aims to ensure a peaceful and environmentally friendly celebration.

Twin City Police Commissioner Sanjeeb Panda clarified the decision after a meeting with the Cuttack Mahanagar Purbanchala Shanti Committee. While DJs are prohibited, sound boxes will be allowed, provided they operate at a low volume. A maximum of six sound boxes will be permitted, with sound levels capped at 65 decibels. Cultural programs associated with the festivities can continue until midnight, within the regulated sound limits.

In addition to the noise restrictions, Commissioner Panda emphasized that strict measures will be taken against individuals or groups found forcefully collecting donations for Durga Puja celebrations. “We will not tolerate any form of harassment or illegal collection of funds under the guise of festival donations,” he said.
