Odisha to Establish 25 New Excise Stations to Strengthen Enforcement Efforts

Bhubaneswar: The Odisha Excise Department has announced plans to set up 25 new excise stations across the state to enhance enforcement activities and address issues related to illicit alcohol and smuggling.

In a directive issued to all Excise Superintendents, the Excise Commissioner revealed that the new stations will be strategically located to improve oversight and enforcement. Ganjam, Balasore, and Berhampur districts will each have three new stations, while Cuttack, Mayurbhanj, and Nayagarh will each receive two.

These additional stations are expected to significantly strengthen the enforcement of excise laws, the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act, and other relevant regulations. They will focus on tackling cross-border smuggling, illegal storage, and unauthorized liquor production. The initiative aims to curb tragedies related to illicit alcohol and improve overall public safety.
