Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare Celebrates Achievements and Enhances Support for Retirees

New Delhi: The Department of Pension and Pensioners’ Welfare (DoPPW) hosted a series of significant events today, showcasing its ongoing commitment to recognizing the contributions of retiring central government employees and enhancing support for those preparing to retire.

The day began with the 7th Anubhav Awards ceremony, held to honor exceptional contributions made by central government employees during their service. In a notable ceremony, five Anubhav Awards and ten Jury Certificates were presented to personnel from nine different ministries and departments. This year’s ceremony highlighted a significant milestone, with five of the awardees being women pensioners—the highest number in a single ceremony to date. The event featured the release of a citation booklet detailing the achievements of the awardees and a short film celebrating their hard work and dedication.

Secretary (Pension) praised the central government employees for their invaluable contributions to nation-building. He expressed hope that the Anubhav Awards would inspire current employees to excel in their roles and contribute meaningfully to their fields.

In the afternoon, the DoPPW organized its 55th Pre-Retirement Counselling (PRC) Workshop at Vigyan Bhawan, aimed at assisting central government employees who are set to retire by March 31, 2025. The workshop included a series of informative sessions covering topics such as the BHAVISHYA Portal, Integrated Pensioners Portal, retirement benefits, family pension, CGHS process, income tax rules, and more. Additionally, a “Banks’ Exhibition” was held, with 18 pension disbursing banks participating to provide services and guidance on opening pension accounts and investment opportunities.

More than 750 retirees benefitted from the PRC Workshop, which was designed to help them navigate the retirement process and understand the benefits available to them post-retirement. The department reiterated its commitment to facilitating a smooth transition for retirees through these workshops, in line with its Good Governance initiatives.

Concluding the day’s events, the 11th Nation-wide Pension Adalat was chaired by Mr. V. Srinivas, Secretary of Pensions. The Adalat saw participation from 22 ministries and pensioners, both in person and online. During the meeting, 298 cases were discussed, with 245 resolved on the spot, achieving a success rate of over 82%.

These events reflect the DoPPW’s ongoing efforts to recognize the contributions of retiring employees, provide essential support and information to those preparing for retirement, and address pension-related issues efficiently.
