New Delhi:Ashok Kumar Singh, Director General (DG) of the Employees’ State Insurance Corporation (ESIC), chaired the 86th meeting of the Medical Benefit Council in New Delhi today. The meeting saw key decisions aimed at improving the quality of healthcare services provided by ESIC, with a focus on enhancing medical service delivery for insured persons (IPs) across India.
One of the major decisions taken during the meeting was the implementation of the Common Support Mission (CSM) for states. This initiative aims to strengthen ESIC’s healthcare system at the state level, focusing on a patient-centric approach to improve service delivery for insured persons. The CSM will provide the necessary support to state healthcare facilities to ensure better management and delivery of services.
In a significant step towards expanding healthcare accessibility, the Council also approved the convergence of ESIC with the Ayushman Bharat Pradhan Mantri Jan Arogya Yojana (AB-PMJAY). This move is expected to provide ESIC beneficiaries with broader access to healthcare services, improving the overall reach and effectiveness of the healthcare system for the insured.
Additionally, the Council approved the launch of Annual Preventive Health Check-ups & Awareness Camps for ESIC beneficiaries. These check-ups will focus on the early diagnosis of lifestyle disorders, the identification of pre-cancerous lesions, and the detection of nutritional deficiencies. The target groups for these initiatives include insured persons, women, and transgender individuals. The camps will be held at ESIC and ESIS hospitals across the country.
The implementation of Service Level Benchmarks was also given the green light to further enhance the quality of care provided by ESIC. These benchmarks aim to ensure high standards of patient care, safety, and service delivery in ESIC healthcare facilities, driving continuous improvement in the services offered.
The meeting was attended by T.L. Yaden, Financial Commissioner, Dr. Deepika Govil, Medical Commissioner, ESIC, and other senior ESIC officials. Representatives from state and central governments were also present during the discussions.
