Instituted in 2006, the Ustad Bismillah Khan Yuva Puraskar is named after the legendary Bharat Ratna Ustad Bismillah Khan and aims to encourage and motivate young performing artists in India. The award is given annually to those under the age of 40 in the fields of music, dance, drama, folk & tribal arts, and puppetry. It carries a cash prize of Rs 25,000, a plaque, and an angavastram.
