786 New Doctors Recommended For Government Service in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: With the surge in Covid cases, the demand to recruit a large number of medical staff has increased. In order to meet the requirement of doctors in various government hospitals across the state, the Government in Health and Family Welfare Department have been recommended to appoint 786 doctors who cleared the recently conducted examination.

Odisha Public Service Commission (OPSC) took the recruitment of doctors in a short notice as a challenge and completed the selection procedure as soon as possible. The commission invited applications and conducted a Computer based examination to reduce the duration of the examination process.

The examination was conducted on April 28 across 15 centres in which 1491 candidates appeared.

The selection of the candidates were determined by looking at the overall merit list based on the rules governing recruitment of Medical Officers stipulated written marks (weighted 70%) added to career assessment (weighted 30%).

Both the components were assessed through a developed software CSMS module and within 15 days of the examinations, the results of the candidates were published on May 12.
