60 Special Trains to Serve Pilgrims for Mahakumbh 2025 from Odisha Cities

Bhubaneswar: To ensure smooth and hassle-free travel for the millions of devotees attending the Mahakumbh 2025 in Prayagraj, East Coast Railway (ECoR) has announced the operation of 60 special trains, covering 25 cities across Odisha. These special services come as part of the Indian Railways’ comprehensive strategy to handle the massive influx of pilgrims, with 50 Kumbh Special Trains already successfully completing their journeys.

The special trains will run from key locations across Odisha, including Puri, Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Khurda Road, Brahmapur, and more. These services aim to ensure a comfortable and efficient travel experience for pilgrims headed to Prayagraj, facilitating their safe and timely arrival for the grand spiritual event.

The trains from Puri, Bhubaneswar, Khurda Road, and other cities will provide direct connectivity to Prayagraj. Notable routes include two pairs of trains (08417 & 08475) from Puri to Tundla via Prayagraj and various other special services from Bhubaneswar, Cuttack, Brahmapur, and other parts of the state.

The special train services will connect passengers from remote regions such as Rayagada, Kesinga, Kantabanji, and others, ensuring comprehensive coverage across Odisha. The operation of these 60 special trains demonstrates the Indian Railways’ commitment to facilitating a seamless travel experience for pilgrims.

In addition to the train services, the Indian Railways has ensured that key facilities are in place for pilgrims traveling to Prayagraj. These include newly constructed toilets, drinking water facilities, food courts, and medical observation rooms at major railway stations. Special Yatri Suvidha Kendras at Prayagraj Junction and Prayagraj Chheoki will offer a range of services, including wheelchair assistance, luggage trolleys, and essential items such as baby milk and medicines.

To manage the large crowds during the Mahakumbh, Indian Railways has also implemented a robust crowd management plan, deploying Railway Protection Force (RPF) personnel at all major stations to ensure safe boarding and deboarding. CCTV cameras and holding areas equipped with tents, food, and multilingual information displays will help ensure passengers’ comfort while waiting.

These efforts are part of the Ministry of Railways’ ongoing commitment to improving passenger convenience, safety, and accessibility during one of India’s largest spiritual gatherings. With the operation of 60 special trains from 25 cities across Odisha, Indian Railways is ensuring that millions of pilgrims will have a smooth journey, allowing them to participate in the Mahakumbh 2025 with full devotion and ease.
