
Bhubaneswar: At least 59 cases of H3N2 influenza have been detected in Odisha. Regional Medical Research Centre (RMRC)-Bhubaneswar Director Sanghamitra Pati informed about the cases on Saturday.
Informing about the tests conducted at RMRC, she said that 225 samples collected from across Odisha were tested for H3N2 in the month of January and February, of which 59 samples were found positive for the influenza.
With the H3N2 cases, the state government advised people to follow guideline issued for Covid-19.
Informing about the H3N2, Public Health Director Niranjan Mishra said that the symptoms of H3N2 are similar to those found in Covid-19 cases which include fever, cough, cold, throat pain and headache.
There is no treatment available for the H3N2 influenza. Stating that there is no need to panic, Mishra said people should take precautions and strictly adhere to Covid-19 guidelines.
People are advised to wear masks in public and crowded places.
