₹40,811 Crore Investment: CM Majhi Launches 36 Industrial Projects in Odisha

Bhubaneswar: In a major push to industrialisation, Chief Minister Mohan Charan Majhi on Wednesday inaugurated and laid the foundation stone for 36 industrial projects worth ₹40,811 crore in Khurda district, marking a significant milestone in the state’s growth trajectory.

The projects were launched at Bhuinpur under Begunia block, with 25 units inaugurated and foundation stones laid for 11 new projects spanning sectors such as green energy, metals, textiles, plastics, tourism, agriculture and food processing, defence manufacturing, IT, automobile, and cement.

Addressing a public gathering, the Chief Minister said Odisha is witnessing a transformative phase in its industrial journey. He described the event as a key step towards a “second industrial revolution” in the state, emphasising that Odisha is rapidly moving from potential to prosperity.

Highlighting employment generation, Majhi said the projects are expected to create over 59,000 direct and indirect jobs. He added that in the past 18–20 months, the government has initiated 109 projects worth nearly ₹2.5 lakh crore, generating around 1.76 lakh jobs, with the latest investments further boosting employment opportunities.

The Chief Minister also underlined the state’s growing manufacturing capabilities, noting that products previously imported will now be produced within Odisha, strengthening the vision of self-reliance under Atmanirbhar Bharat.

He pointed out that over ₹72,000 crore has been allocated for infrastructure development in the current budget—about 6.5 per cent of the state’s GDP—aimed at accelerating industrial growth and improving connectivity.

Majhi said the coming decade will be crucial for achieving the vision of a developed Odisha by 2036, stressing that economic growth will be pursued alongside preservation of Odia identity.

Prior to the public event, the Chief Minister held a roundtable meeting with industrialists from India and abroad, assuring them of full government support in terms of land, power, water, and timely clearances. He also invited investors to approach the Chief Minister’s Office directly for quick resolution of issues.

Industries Minister Sampada Chandra Swain said the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to building a diversified and future-ready industrial ecosystem.

Among others, Aparajita Sarangi, MLAs Prashant Jagdev and Pradeep Kumar Sahu, along with senior officials including Anu Garg and Hemant Sharma, attended the event. Karan Adani, Managing Director of Adani Ports and SEZ, and representatives from participating companies were also present.

The Chief Minister later visited the project exhibition and interacted with industry representatives, reaffirming the state’s commitment to becoming a leading industrial hub in the country.
