Youth Co:Lab National Innovation Dialogue 2023-2024 Opens Applications for Youth-led Social Start-ups in India

New Delhi:  Applications are now open for the Youth Co:Lab National Innovation Dialogue 2023-2024 in India, aimed at supporting 50 youth-led social start-ups in accelerating their businesses. The initiative, organized by the Ministry of Tourism, Government of India, in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and Citi Foundation, encourages young entrepreneurs to address tangible issues and foster co-innovation opportunities.

Startups can submit applications under three themes: Agriculture Fintech and Insurtech for small and marginal farmers, Innovative solutions for Indigenous groups and tribal communities, and Assistive technology and solutions. Selected startups may also receive seed grants.

Isabelle Tschan, Resident Representative a.i. of UNDP India, emphasized the need to unlock the innovative potential of India’s youth, stating that nearly 40% of the country’s population is aged between 13 to 35 years. The initiative is part of UNDP’s commitment to enhancing youth access to opportunities in collaboration with the government, private sector, and civil society organizations.

Dedicated entrepreneurs aged 18-29 offering solutions to real-world issues are invited to apply. Winners and finalists will participate in an online Springboard Programme to enhance their entrepreneurial and leadership skills. Exceptional teams will showcase their business ideas at the Regional Youth Co:Lab Summit 2024 in June.

Dr. Chintan Vaishnav, Mission Director Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog, expressed optimism about the infectious energy in Youth Co:Lab’s Innovation dialogue, creating a space for ambitious young individuals to collaborate for global welfare. He highlighted significant advancements in the three themes and AIM’s efforts to support agri-based startups and establish India’s first Assistive Tech Incubator in Bengaluru.

Mr. Ashu Khullar, CEO Citi Foundation, reiterated Citi’s commitment to supporting the visions and aspirations of youth and young entrepreneurs in India through business and CSR efforts.

The Youth Co:Lab initiative was launched in India in 2019 in collaboration with Atal Innovation Mission, NITI Aayog. The program has conducted five national theme-specific youth social innovation and entrepreneurship dialogues, promoting engagement through panel discussions, workshops, dialogues, and webinars.
