Youth as Torchbearers of Viksit Bharat 2047, Says Dr. Jitendra Singh at Delhi University Event

New Delhi: Union Minister of State (Independent Charge) for Science & Technology and Minister of State (I/C) for Earth Sciences, Dr. Jitendra Singh, encouraged students of Delhi University to take up the mantle of leading India into a prosperous future, envisioning them as the torchbearers of Viksit Bharat 2047, a goal set by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

Addressing students at a certificate distribution ceremony at Daulat Ram College, Dr. Singh highlighted the transformative journey of India over the last decade, asserting that the reforms introduced by the government had instilled self-confidence in the Indian youth and elevated their global standing. “India has come a long way, from being part of the fragile five before 2014 to now being among the top five economies,” Dr. Singh stated.

Dr. Jitendra Singh outlined the government’s major achievements over the past decade, focusing on infrastructure development and youth empowerment. He emphasized that within the first 100 days of the government taking office in 2014, infrastructure projects worth Rs 15 lakh crore were sanctioned. Additionally, 12 industrial nodes are being developed, which will generate employment for 40 lakh youth.

Recalling Prime Minister Modi’s self-certification initiative, Dr. Singh highlighted how it simplified processes for young people. “Youth no longer need to visit a gazetted officer for document certification, as the government placed immense trust in them through this initiative,” he noted.

Another key reform highlighted was the removal of interview requirements for Group C services and below, addressing concerns that government service aspirants were receiving low marks in interviews despite strong written performance. “This decision was crucial in leveling the playing field and reducing subjectivity in the selection process,” Dr. Singh said.

In his address, Dr. Singh lauded the government’s efforts to incubate and accelerate Start-Ups, noting the exponential growth in the sector. “Before 2014, there were only about 350-375 Start-Ups in India. Today, that number has skyrocketed to 3.75 lakh, placing us third in the world for Start-Up ecosystems,” he said. This growth, he added, is a testament to India’s innovative spirit and a key pillar in the country’s ambition to become a developed nation by 2047.

Dr. Singh urged the students to set global benchmarks and continue working toward the realization of Viksit Bharat 2047, emphasizing that they are the ones who will lead India into a prosperous future.

Throughout his speech, Dr. Jitendra Singh underscored the government’s commitment to empowering the youth, citing various initiatives that have simplified procedures, encouraged entrepreneurship, and created employment opportunities. He congratulated the young achievers present at the ceremony, expressing confidence that they would be pivotal in shaping India’s future.

“The youth of India are the torchbearers of change, and under Prime Minister Modi’s leadership, they have been given the tools to build a better future not only for themselves but for the entire nation,” he concluded.
