Wrestler Ravi Kumar settles for silver at Tokyo Olympics

Indian wrestler Ravi Kumar Dahiya settles for a silver medal in the men’s 57-kg freestyle event at the Tokyo Olympics after going down to Russia’s Zavur Uguev. The Indian pehelwan was knocked out by his Russian opponent by 4-7 to become the second Indian grappler to win an Olympic silver medal after Sushil Kumar, who had won the silver at London in 2012. Ravi also became the fifth wrestler to bag a medal for India in Olympic games.

With Ravi’s silver medal, India’s total medal count reached 5 with two silvers and three bronze medals in the ongoing Olympics. India currently stands at 62nd in the medal tally.

Earlier in the day, another wrestler Deepak Punia lost his bronze medal match against San Marino’s Myles Amin in the men’s freestyle 86-kg event. Despite dominating most part of the event, he made mistakes in the last 10 seconds and lost the match.
