New Delhi: Indian wrestler Anshu Malik secured an Olympic quota in the women’s 57 kg category after a commanding victory over Laylokhon Sobirova of Uzbekistan at the Asian Olympic Qualification tournament held on Saturday.
Anshu, a silver medalist at the World Wrestling Championship, showcased her prowess on the mat by defeating Sobirova with a resounding scoreline of 11-0. The victory was achieved through technical superiority, underlining Anshu’s dominance in the bout.
Competing in Bishkek, Anshu maintained her unbeaten streak, securing both her bouts by technical superiority to book her berth at the prestigious Olympic Games.
However, it was a mixed day for Indian wrestling as Mansi Ahlawat faced disappointment in the 62 kg category.
