World Skill Center Graduates 6th Batch with 1,088 Students

Bhubaneswar: The World Skill Center (WSC), Odisha’s premier hub for advanced skill training, witnessed a proud moment today as 1,088 students graduated from its 6th batch. The ceremony, graced by Sampad Chandra Swain, Minister of Skill Development & Technical Education, celebrated not just academic achievement but the growing global recognition of Odisha’s skilled workforce.

Congratulating the graduates, the Minister lauded their impressive placement record, noting that more than 93 percent of students have already secured positions with leading companies. Among them, 94 students bagged international job offers in the UAE with reputed firms such as EMRILL and Jindal SAW. “This is not just a moment of celebration, but also of transformation. The Chief Minister has laid great emphasis on skill development as a cornerstone of our journey towards Viksit Odisha. By empowering youth with industry-ready skills, we are not only creating livelihoods but also building the future of our State,” the Minister said in his address.

The ceremony also marked the inauguration of two cutting-edge Centers of Excellence – one in Smart Manufacturing in partnership with FESTO, and another in Industrial Automation in collaboration with Schneider. These facilities aim to train students at global standards, equipping them for the rapidly evolving demands of industry.

The success of WSC graduates was highlighted by placements in top companies across sectors. Students of the School of Engineering have joined firms such as Johnson Lifts, Reliance Solar, Jindal Steel, Fujitec, JSW, Tata Steel, Tata Autocomp, Airtel, and Wipro Aerospace, while graduates from the School of Services have secured opportunities with brands including IHLC of Tata, Green Trends, VLCC, Jawed Habib, Mahindra, and Swosti. Some students achieved annual packages of up to ₹5.25 lakh, reflecting both the quality of training at WSC and the aspirations of Odisha’s youth.

Adding to the day’s celebrations, 29 outstanding trainees were felicitated with Gold, Silver, and Bronze medals for their exceptional performance across various trades.

The event was attended by senior officials, including Bhupendra Singh Poonia, Commissioner-cum-Secretary of SD&TE Department, and Rashmita Panda, Director, Skill Development-cum-Employment and CEO of OSDA & WSC. Industry leaders such as Ranjit Ray, VP of Calderys India Refractories Ltd., Saroj Kumar Mohanta, GM – Head Engineering & Maintenance, Syed Sameer Ali, Park Head of Wonderla Holidays Ltd., Bhubaneswar, and Abhishek Kumar, HR Head Odisha at Bharti Airtel, also graced the occasion, underscoring the strong industry-academia connect fostered by WSC.
