
New Delhi: Union Minister of State for Science & Technology (Independent Charge), Dr. Jitendra Singh, highlighted the remarkable contributions of women-led startups in India, emphasizing their growing global impact. Speaking to a delegation from the Federation of Indian Chambers of Commerce and Industry – Ladies Organisation (FICCI-FLO), led by YFLO Delhi President Dr. Payal Kanodia, he stressed that women-led development is a key priority in Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s governance agenda.
Dr. Singh noted that Indian women entrepreneurs are making strides across various sectors, including space technology, citing the example of India’s solar mission “Aditya L1,” which is led by Nigar Shaji, widely recognized as ISRO’s “Sunny Lady.” He expressed confidence that women-led startups would place India at the forefront of global innovation in the coming years.
The Minister underscored the government’s efforts to promote women entrepreneurship, mentioning flagship schemes like PM MUDRA and PM Vishwakarma, which have significantly benefited women. He revealed that nearly 70% of the youth who have availed financial assistance under PM MUDRA Yojana are women, enabling them to establish their own businesses and become job providers.
Dr. Singh also spoke about the Modi government’s initiatives to support traditional artisans and craftsmen, who had been neglected for decades. Under PM Vishwakarma, the government is providing free training, stipends, and skill development programs to artisans and craftsmen, ensuring they have sustainable livelihoods.
He urged the delegation to contribute towards realizing the vision of a developed India by 2047, adding that the government is committed to capacity building for the youth, especially young women. He further emphasized that the government is modernizing work culture by blending traditional Indian expertise with cutting-edge advancements, ensuring inclusive growth across the country.
